  Training of Trainers
In May, 2003, the Campaign organized a two-day "Training of Trainers" in Worcester, MA. Jacy Showers, EdD, founder and consultant of SBS Prevention Plus, presented an SBS prevention curriculum designed to develop and enhance training skills of 35 professionals in health and human services. Each participant in the training subsequently agreed to conduct further training in his and her respective discipline.


The Campaign has assembled a "SBS Training Kit" for use by the trainers. Each of the kits contains the following "tools", packaged in a tough bright blue plastic "tool kit":


  • Comprehensive Training Manual

  • Video "Portrait of a Promise" (English)

  • Video "Portrait of a Promise" (Spanish)

  • MCC Shaken Baby Syndrome Brochures in Spanish and English

  • Other materials related to infant crying and SBS prevention

  • Overhead slides and evaluation forms

The Campaign is tracking the training sessions and the post-training evaluations completed by the "second generation" of participants.

Hundreds of parents and professionals will be trained in SBS prevention as a result of this project.
